I caught a headline on a newspaper today, can’t remember exactly what it said, but the basic jist of it was “Sex Offenders Just Want To Get On With Their Lives”. I parused a bit of it, and the story was about a convicted child molester who, after his release from prison, feels that people’s negative reactions to him are unwarranted and detrimental to his ability to move on with life.
Imagine that - Sex offender status, as it turns out, is an experience that makes it incredibly difficult to live a normal life. How ironic.
Now, I’m not focusing this tyrade on people who got put on the list for accidentally taking an underage girl home from a bar, or because a parent overreacts to a family friend touching their child in a bathing suit area by accident, or 13-year-olds placed on the list because they committed sex acts out of simple non-malicious curiosity, basically any of the “honest mistakes” that can, unfortunately, get you placed on the Sex Offenders List - heck, if anything, they’re an argument FOR a more detailed disclosure of the nature of the act (and in the last example, also an argument for better and more frank sex-ed). I’m talking about actual child molesters, rapists, and perverts, people who let their dangerously malformed sex drives supercede their sense of community and decency. These people should be thankful that they’re actually being given a shot at proving their rehabilitation.

In my opinion, Tetris is the most fun you can have without winning anything. And make no mistake, you can’t win at Tetris.
The blocks always keep falling randomly, and you have to just deal with what you get as best you can. But the better you do, the faster it happens. And it never stops, until you lose. The best you can hope for is to get the highest score possible, and last as long as possible, until that eventual loss occurs.

Thanks go out to Don Zinteck for these photos of me at Music Is Art 2007. Also, the photo of me on the site’s index page, the one of me hanging in a harness and painting a soldier, that one is courtesy of Fairylyssa Hugsalot. I’m a bit rushed for time, so also check out these photos Don took at the Mark Freeland Tribute. HINT: I’m a Scottish cowboy, courtesy of the painting/song “Cowboys Of Scotland” by Mark Freeland, as performed by Bud Redding and Steven J. Miers and myself in complete Scottish cowboy regala.

I’ve not had an internet connection in my house now for a few months, which has been putting quite a crimp on my internet business, not to mention getting updates done. Special thanks to Mark Madden at Madd Grafix (maddtat2.com) for letting me use his computer whenever I need it.
Also, I recently got some awesome shout-outs from a young artist named Brods, you should go check out his work at deviantART Definitely a darker brand of art than I’m used to, however I’m crazy about the composition and use of color. Great work for someone of only 16.

PERMISSION TO SPEAK FREELY, SIR!!!
Permission granted - Thanks to the First Amendment.
It’s really funny how many times I hear the ol’ “I’m all for free speech, but…” chestnut, usually in regards to something we’re supposed to be poo-pooing on as a society. Here’s a bulletin post that’s been making the rounds recently…

I love it when people who aren’t amusing by nature try and give “amusing others” a shot, usually with retreaded material and e-mail forwarding involved. I’ve compiled a list of witty little sayings people like to use (over and over and over…), and my less-than-humored responses to them.

Well, as it turns out, it’s far easier to blog if you use blogging software. Since I like easy, we’re gonna go with WordPress. Now I can categorize my ranting and raving for ease of dissemination later. Of course, I don’t have the time to do anything useful with my home page just yet, but whatever, it’s always gonna be a work in progress. And now of course, I can take advantage of RSS feeds and comments sections.
As for the break dancing bear, well… He amuses me. Someone please tell me who did this, I wanna give ‘em credit and mad props for it.

I used to think that people had an inherent knowledge of what was stupid and pointless. Otherwise, I reasoned, what prevents them from sitting the wrong way on a toilet seat, or knowing not to drink spoiled milk? Well, thanks to one li’l Indian boy from American Idol, I’m now aware of just how generous this assessment was.
This dork to the right is Sanjaya Malakar, and if you don’t know who he is yet, I envy you. Deeply. And I will even advise you to stop reading, otherwise your blood’s gonna start boiling soon. Read the rest of this entry »

Fun wow. Yesterday was St. Patrick’s Day, that weird time of the year when everyone goes insane and pretends to be Irish. Americans of all races, creeds and operating system allegiances often enjoy this festive occasion by wearing green, drinking lots of alcohol, eating corned beef, and chasing all the snakes out of their adopted lands to make room for Catholicism. It’s really cute how we have a holiday where folks can celebrate the stereotypes of another race, alongside members of said race who tend to revel in it. I often wonder what would happen if we celebrated Black History Month in a similar fashion. I’d continue the joke, but something tells me that’d be a bad idea.
I celebrated the festive occasion by shooting a music video, or rather, starring in the video and being shot by Buffalo camera shogun Chris Santucci (The Falls, America’s Next Top Model). This is for that Robby Takac Amungus recording I keep going on about in my previous posts. I promise, once it hits YouTube, I’ll post it here. Also on hand was Bob Mussell, photographer to the stars and kick-ass individual to boot (you can see him with myself, Mark Freeland and The Enigma on my Photos page), who took some great photos, some of which I’ll be posting if I get copies of them for my own use.
OK, in closing, you ready for a blast from the past? No? Too bad. I’ve been playing Earthworm Jim recently. You may remember it as that really whacked-out series of games (well… two games actually) with the killer artwork and surreal sensibilities, about an eartworm that finds a cybernetic suit and uses it to rescue this bee lady from a giant creepy queen with a slug for a butt. My favorite level is the second one, where you’re in Hell (or “Heck” as they call it), and the music starts out all creepy, but then it stops and is replaced with elevator music (punctuated by the occasional tortured scream). Too funny. If you’re into the emulation thing, or you have an old Sega Genesis you swear you’re gonna stop using as a door jamb and hook up one of these days, I highly recommend revisiting this classic game.

Dang, it’s been a while since the last update. Well, let’s just do a quick recap of all the cool stuff happening right now:
First off, I did some drawings of Rob Van Dam several months ago, which his MySpace handler took some interest in. They are now displayed at RVD’s OFFICIAL MySpace page, with one of them being used as a background image for a while. RVD is of course my favorite wrestler, not only for his in-ring work but because he’s a major factor in how I met my girlfriend, so this is really exciting for me.
Also, I got a chance to step in the studio and record a track of vocals for Robby Takac (of Goo Goo Dolls fame). He’s producing a CD for his side project Amungus, and he allowed me the honor of rapping over one of them for the final release. We’re also shooting a video for it later this month, as soon as that hits YouTube I’ll be sure to hook you up with a link.
Finally, I recently ran across some doodling I did while working retail. Thanks to the magic of Photoshop (well, the Amish have denounced it as magic anyways), I’m restoring these sketches over the course of the next few weeks and posting them here for your parusal. Click here to go check them out
